Zambia Partners

CONTESA has no employees in Zambia but partners with approved local charities and organisations.

Our code of conduct

CONTESA trustees have defined criteria which partner organisations have to accept and sign up to before CONTESA will fund or assist their programmes. CONTESA prefers to work with organisations which have a community self help structure in place.

Kabwe Church Family Mission

The Church Family Mission (CFM) is situated on the outskirts of Kabwe Township. Kabwe is a small town about the 150km to the North of Lusaka towards the Copperbelt. The Town has suffered adversely over the past 20 years due to the closure of the mines, which used to be the major focus of the town and on which prosperity depended. CONTESA started supporting CFM, Kabwe with a feeding program for AIDS orphans and disadvantaged children in July 2005.

The programme started in July 2005 feeding 190 orphans and a few widows 3 meals a week at a cost of £300 per month. As at 31 December 2010 the numbers of the orphans had risen to 550 and they were being fed 5 meals a week at a cost of £920 per month. Over 390,000 meals were provided to the orphans at the centre between July 2005 to June 2010.
supplementation of teachers’ salaries – to bring salaries of community school teachers to a liveable level CONTESA started supplementing 5 teachers salaries with an allowance of £30 each per month effective from November 2006. Currently CONTESA funds a budget of £850 per month for unning cots, the Head Teacher, 4 teachers for Grade 8 and 10 teachers for classes up to Grade 7.

Chainda Centre

Chainda Centre is located in Chainda shanty c0mpount on the outskirts of Lusaka. The centre focuses on reaching out to vulnerable children, youth, women and the aged. The Centre also provides education and aims to improve quality of life. Most of the children are orphans within the compound and live with grandparents as guardians or with parents who are unable to work because of illness due to AIDs virus.

Chawama Clinic

Messiah Mission Orphanage

The orphanage is situated on a 5 acre plot in the Lilayi farming community on the outskirts of Lusaka. The orphanage has placed over 500 orphans and vulnerable children into home. The orphanage was constructed as one large home so that the children can experience as closely as possible ‘normal family life’. They still have a few orphans resident in the home and support nearly 500 orphans living in the surrounding area.

Kalingalinga Hospice

To help alleviate the suffering of orphans and disadvantaged children in Zambia through the provision of small grants for food, education, health, welfare, uniforms, shoes or general well being.
